I'm Around....

This hasn't been a banner blogging week, but I can 'splain. Swim meets Wed, Fri & Sat. Cody's best friend who moved to Virginia is here for three days (pics later promise), we entertaining him and his mother and grandfather (I adore his mom, so this is a good thing!).

Of course VBS. And..I got slammed with a lot of typing! But I got through it so far without invoking Blogging Without Obligation (see link on the right). I am not convinced my hit stats won't be engraved into my tombstone. I can't take a chance. *I picture tombstones kinda like a laser beam, digitalized, satellite -kind of thing in 20 years, what do you think?* Can you just HEAR it 100 years from now? "Oooohh, your great grandma, she didn't have a lot of friends according HER hit count...clearly you didn't inherit your fun personality from her!" I cannot chance it, no I need to invoke only in an emergency, my great granddaughter is counting on me. If I have nothing else, I have my camera:

Niki and her b/f dropped in to watch a few races (can you tell Corle is good with Alex?).
Cody on the block (lane 4):
Alex opted out of the caps early on--they hurt his tiny hairs! Poor baby. If you click and enlarge, then gasp, it's not a tat--it's a Sharpie!
Last day VBS, Coach Dribble and myself (Pom Pom Polly) had a rough time containing our excitement at that prospect! Okay, we didn't. They knew.
Friday, Alex's class came to our locker room (on the left). The big bubble on the wall (hence the fan and air purifier) formed because the air conditioner leaked condensation right down the middle of our wall! I know--eww! You could touch that wall and get wet. Naturally.
My son, Cody (seen below), was the Head Coach for Alex's class all week, so HE was in our class all day as well. We present the kids with dilemmas and they are supposed to solve them. One child drew "a kid in your class wears the same old clothes every day" and they huddled to solve it. THIS class didn't need to think very hard before they quipped "tell him to wash his clothes and save money to buy new ones!".
Okayyyyyy.....hmmmm....onto another card. It reads "you hear about a hurricane in another state". So kids, what can YOU do to help? I explain to them this did happen to a child in our church--Cat's family came out of hurricane Katrina. They lost their home. This is when Cody leans over and whispered "Mom, this class is soo dumb". Not nice. About to give him "the look" when the group bellows "they just need to stop worrying and save money to buy a new one!". Oh. Help. Where have they BEEN all week?! Give Cody 'knowing' look, shake head grimly.
My radio pooped out on me. I mentioned in another post I cannot sleep without Coast to Coast AM--so I needed a good AM radio. Sent my husband out because I needed to type last night. He came home with XM Radio. Proudly spread out the contents on our bed as I looked on. Okay. I'm working again now, I guess this will be a good thing. What we didn't realize is that we need to pose the receiver in our bedroom window (take out screen) facing south. In just the right angle....It needs a little fine tuning, but what d'ya think? Attractive, no?
Here it is---get ready for more acoustical treats, friends, I have access to a LOT of stuff now! However, because it isn't free, the radio was pricey, the subscription will cost us quarterly, guess I'd better finish up typing. I did this last night:

Help. Me.

Wordless Wednesday....With Some Words

Swim Meet:
Alex (my adorable youngest son) demonstrates the breast stroke (he's a bullet in water, that boy!)

I find time to demonstrate to the children (with NO makeup, it was dang hot) how to pose and elimintate the double chin thing. Because one day, it will happen! I do what I can....

The Landscape is FINISHED! Check it out..

If you read the post back a few weeks, I put up the beginnings of our landscape effort--before we moved here there was nothing, it was kinda sad. So I told you I'd post the photos when we were finished with the entrance area slash courtyard? slash wedge by the sidewalk. Was feeling nagged to get to that recently, and boy am I ever glad I didn't. Apparently we hadn't put on the finishing touches and clearly it completes the essence (and adds that hint of white trash that some of our neighbors suspected anyway, lol!).

Enjoy, and if you see something you would like to copy from our yard (ie, the trampoline garland) feel free!
And....last night another swim meet, so I have to show a few Alex shots since I put up the Cody shots last week....he's a born fish that Alex!
If you look closely beyond Alex (I know, hard to see beyond the super-sonic breast stroking little Alex, but tear your eyes away a sec) you will see me in my very attractive Superman BTB Stingrays tee, walking along in official capacity. No zoning in on my humid hair, it wouldn't be very nice. They let me sit under that tent there and be a balloter (giggles). You read right, they allowed me to put a red pen to the times (more giggles) and of course, Alex got first place ALL night long...imagine that! Naw, I behaved, but it was oh so very hard to red pen a DQ on him when he didn't touch with two hands. TWICE!! Side note: we sometimes call him DQ head because he has a double crown which makes his hair meet on top like a little DQ ice cream cone, so I pretended that's what it meant.

Good news, there are several more meets, several more opportunities to see the Codeman and Alex-a-baby in action, but until then, I hope your day is blessed beyond belief, friends!

Winning Week (what's up with that?)

After years of not winning a single drawing drawing (seriously), I'm happy to say I broke that streak and have in the past few weeks won not one, but TWO! I should be out buying Powerball tickets in multiple quantities, maybe later. The beautiful nautically themed quilt I won from Coffee Mom arrived (along with three chocolate bars...thanks, Kathleen because I need those...). I don't have a picture posted of it yet, but I will before the day is out so come back! She obviously has great talent here, and I secretly covet that ability! I love to sew but cannot hand sew for the life of me! Thanks, Kathleen, I'm loving this quilt.

Last weekend while at a Vacation Bible School meeting (believe it or not, they do allow me to take part every year, lol) I won a backpack. Okay okay, mine was the second name drawn, but still counts, yeah huh it does. It's part of the sports theme we're doing this year, made to look like a basketball jersey. Again, photo will be upppp soon. I'm sorry, I am not doing well with this back to work thing, but eventually I get things done!

Okay, this next part I do have a photo of...the first of our neighborhood's swim team meets was last night; and while I missed the first half for a prior committment, I got to see my son Cody swim one event. It's his first year on the swim team (we've only been in this hood for two) and he did a fabulous job! He took first in his first two events (which I missed!), and I...I mean HE...will get ribbons for all of them. So...because I'm the mommy, I get to brag a little and post the few pictures I did get there in time to snap! I'm a bit biased, but I think my son Cody is amazing, he gives everything he does 100%. And he's aDORable.

Okay....this is 1/2 of what I promised....the quilt (and candybars!). It's hard to see, but it's a nautical quilt and has been largely hand-quilted. It's truly a work of art....thanks Coffee Mom! (I look a little wired here--I'm very sleepy, working like mad and it's showing...ugh! so cut me a little slack, plz--hehe it almost looks like I'm cross-eyed in the first one).
