In the months since I started my blog (started as my 'sewing' blog--ha!) I've received much more than I've given. Literally. The first thing I won in a blog contest was from Coffee Mom (Kathleen)--she made a beautiful min-quilt and I was lucky enough to win! What a way to begin!
Then Dawn sent me The Serenity Prayer magnet--I won that in that very same giveaway--it's on the fridge now. I won a Hawaiian calendar from Kailani, which will be going to work very soon! And who can forget the Remove Before Flight Shirt from Pilot AdorableJohn?
I'm doing the Ornament Exchange and can't wait to show you my ornament when it arrives (mine is ready to go, I'm a late shopper/mailer loser, Cathi, please forgive me!). It's just not okay to continue until I show you what I won in the last big contest--I hit it BIG. Big hair, shiny hair, lifted by the roots hair, sleek hair, wavy hair, thermal protected hair, you name it, I've got it. If you've got hair issues and you need a product, call me. I can help you out. Because....I won a biggie at Fall Y'all.
I won hair product...oodles of it! And I'm emailing Sarah right now because I didn't bookmark her blog and I can't find it. Soon as I hear back, I link up. But check it out...I opened a very big box of hair product that I'd never own all at once, unless I sold my son's Ipod or something. I didn't, but as I type this it occurs to me I need clothes.....hang on, be right back.
Here's Sarah's blog: www.sarahjenssister.blogspot.com
Here ya go...so much I had to load my pocket with product too (I have six bottles of stuff in that pocket):
Then, have you heard yet? GiGi was in town. And she's so dang nice she even brought me a gift for 'letting' her stay at our house. As if she had a choice! I'm not sure how much good I'm going to get out of this first gift because it's heavier than I usually wear (seems to me filling it with rice makes no sense), but it's VERY soft, this ear muffler with Velcro (but note the big big hair here).
But the second gift...home run. I love a good headband, girl! This also came with a mitten, but only one. Weird. And a loofah. What the loofah sponge has to do with the headband and the mitten, idk, but Gi, you're my favorite thing in the Ozarks! I'd show you the apple butter, but I've eaten most of it and I don't really feel like traepsing into the kitchen and picking out the bread crumbs and butter dobs from the jar just to take a picture.
Of course you've seen the bag Trinity gave me, I won that too! She also sent along a pink necklace from Bali, a Christmas CD with ME on the sleeve (imagine!) and a nice note. Trinity goes above and beyond.
Then when Mr. & Mrs. GiGi were gone a mere day or so, a package arrived in the mail. What is this...what I wonder. I open the package, which is encased in a box of chocolate covered grapes. (Shana, what in the world?) And the most beautiful thing...Shana knew I had fallen in love with the Legend Of The Christmas Spider & the beautifully beaded spider she gave away (I didn't win). So being the dear friend she is, she sent me one anyway. And totally knocked my socks off. I hung it on the tree right away, it's front and center:
I stood and admired it, sipping a little eggnog chased down with one of those tiny little blue drinks and got to thinking...
So...that's my loot. I think bloggers are different. I find bloggers are some of the most giving folks there are--and not just givers of 'things'. But of themselves. Of their hearts, of their ideas, of their prayers. I don't know how long I'll be a blogger, maybe a few months, maybe years, maybe forever. I'm learning to let God take me where He wants me. Right now, it's among some of the most giving people I've ever encountered, and blogging or not, the friends I've connected with will always be in my life.
