Pictures Of My New Mop--Oh, And My Baby Sister Too!

I had the nicest surprise happen upon my front door yesterday--my baby sister, Antoinette, was in the city and stopped in unexpected (and all the embarrassing very dirty house that goes along with that!). It's far too long and far too much water under the bridge to go into, but I haven't seen my sister in three and a half years. We only live an hour away, and over the past several months we've been emailing and a few phone calls. So three years means I've never met my two nephews, 2 and 1. She brought them along, her daughter is in school. I don't have her permission to post their photos, but if she gives it to me later, I'll show ya, they're extremely adorable.

The visit was far too short for me, hopefully she'll come again and I'll have the house better prepared (and baby proof!). I do have a few photos of us (It's very hard for me to post photos of me with NO eye makeup, but Antoinette looks beautiful, so here you go):

She was making fun of my photos on my blog, so we're posing for a blog shot up there--I don't know if she understood I'm not serious when I take those shots!

And here is where I see how ginormous my head is, I inherited my father's head. She didn't. BUT I did get the good nose, no doubt about it.

Y'all have been cracking me up with the mop comments. I really did get a mop! For Christmas too, but John broke it and bought me a replacement. What I didn't tell you (oops) is that I also got the ENTIRE series of I Love Lucy DVDs (OMGoodness I'm in heaven!) and flowers were delivered the Friday before. So don't hit him just yet, wait and see what he gets me for my birthday!

See? How happy am I? I've yet to mop anything. I will, but first I need to find the floor.

PS--I've been AWOL so much this is getting old, I know, but it really truly is going to get better. I'm taking several weeks off typing (if I even do go back, I don't know yet). That combined with school almost out, will give me plenty of time for BOTH digi and Jamee blogs.

I'll be over....and won't likely post again for a few days. John, Alex and I are going to the Omaha Zoo for some R and R...and room service and relaxation. JenGi, she'll be camping out with Ms. Aunt Bea. Have fun with that, ladies. Muahahahahahahahahah!

Birthday Dinner, My Little Heart and A Game of Tag. Even I'm Worn Out Now!

Well Cat and I didn't get down to Hillbilly Holler to hang out with coffee filter birthday hats, Aunt Bea, Jen Gi and song. But that didn't stop Cat and I from having an early dinner tonight anyway. Her birthday is Sunday, so it was kinda my treat to her. I have to say I completely enjoyed this dinner, it's been far too long since Cat and I have had time to just sit and chat without kids or husbands hanging around. Kids and husbands are good, though. Just sometimes they're so amazing we don't feel we DESERVE to be around them so much, so we suffered.

The photos I have kinda stink, but the one of Cat is so pretty I think it almost makes up for her half face in the next one! And I'm being quite a good sport, because I don't know what the hey hoo (JenGi, I stole that!) was going on with my hair there! It looks a little Ed Grimley-ish..now I wonder if I left the house like this or if it just happened in the parking lot. Thanks for the mention, Cat. Not!

Onto something very cool--Angela at Mommy Bytes, being a talented knitter had a giveaway. She knitted these little hearts and I really really wanted one. I'd all but forgotten about it when she emailed me last week that I'd won one. It arrived in the mail and it's so cute I now think I have to re-learn to knit. I kinda sorta learned years ago, but knitting wasn't cool then. There are so many fun things out there now, I have to jump on that bandwagon. Angela, thanks, I heart this prize!

Finally, my friend Katja tagged me with this--how fun it this one I ask? Here is low down:

Rule #1: Copy all the links below and replace a single link under the appropriate letter of the alphabet. If your domain name, or even the title of your blog, starts with an “A,” you’d replace the link under that letter and put the replaced link at the bottom. Also, don’t forget to credit the tagger, or where you got the list from, at the end of the list with a full URL of the post, so that a pingback gets generated.

Louie's Turn

Yesterday was my day to drive the 'work carpool'; it takes nearly 2.5 hours from start to finish, mostly drive time. I left the house wearing a jacket, it was amazing weather for late January

So it was a shock to my system as I arrived home to 19 degrees and snow blowing furiously, the wind so strong that it was a challenge staying on the road. That's the Missouri I've grown over my lifetime to love. Windows open one day, furnace and fire burning the next.

By popular demand, I have some Louie photos to share. Will this make Misty happy? I think yes. Even though Jack Jack the cat is every bit the love dovey wovey baby Louie is. Don't get me wrong, I ADORE the Lou. I'll tell the story of Louie very soon, it's actually a funny little adoption story.
Louie! He's a good boy. Even if he is now deaf, digs under the muddy deck every single time he goes out, forcing me to dip his giant bear-sized paws in water before letting him in, needs out four times an hour, gets snot all over the dining room window he camps out at, and makes a louder-than-life barfing sound and nothing comes out.
He's getting old. Not too old to to chase the cats. Two nights ago we woke up and flung our bedroom door open, having heard some very noisy intruders (we were brave). No intruders, but we did find Louie. Lying at the foot of the stairs in Jack's nylon cube house thing, one short stubby leg and giant horse head through one hole, body in the middle and three legs through the other hole. See diagram below:

He'd creeped upstairs, likely to eat the cats' food (he does that) and torment poor Jack, who sleeps with Alex most nights. So when he found himself stuck, he was heading downstairs to get us and slipped and slid down the stairs. The nylon made his run quite smooth and very fast. He slid all the way down, taking out a basket of Lego's on the way, landing at the bottom of the stairs next to our bedroom door with a thud. And not a yelp from him; he didn't even look afraid. He knew the drill, we've pulled his giant head from many things over the four years we've been blessed with Louie's big giant slobbery stinky lovable self.

Alright enough Louie stories, here is where I found the older boys yesterday afternoon, both drooling oblivious to the whipping wind and snow outside (I am aware on days like this that God has blessed me greatly with shelter and warmth and I worry for the people and animals alike who are out there without):

*I'm not going to have any JenGi, Aunt Bea, Cat & Gidget photos next week. I'm afraid I had to cancel (I'm calling you today Cat, but sorry if you get this through my post). John and I feel with the ever-changing drama going on with our daughter, it's not a good time for me to leave town.

It's All About The Trophy Case Smile!

Shana gave me a job to do the other day. I get to accept a very happy award, the You Make Me Smile! award. Merci, Shana! Vous me faites sourire aussi, la petite amie! The other day when I read this, I snapped a quick acceptance shot. As you can see, I'm not at all prideful about it. And as always quite excited to build up the trophy case humbled by this award!

I adore the looks of this little fella, HE makes me smile. He's colorful, he's retro, he's happy, he's all that. So, little smiley-faced happy guy, I lift my tiny little blue cocktail in honor of you!
I'm going to send this onto Angelawd because I laughed a little louder than even I'm comfortable in the room with when I read I'm A Gym Dork. She and I could be dear gym-sisters, I need to go back through my history and see if I've shared my "Stacey can't talk and walk on a treadmill" story. I'm sure my little sister wouldn't mind reliving it again!

Also, giving our happy fellow to Ms. Can't Be Wrong, the Ode to Jen/Gi tickled me all day long! I'm not sure if you didn't know Jen/Gi it'd be funny, but a song about a girl who grew up in travelling missionary world, who sports a hillbilly twang, who enjoys the word Heyhoo (I don't think her def of heyhoo and mine are the same, so I let it slide), and who says at least three time in any given conversation "Okay, here's the deal" or "Okay, here's the deal-io" is a good little song.

Jen/Gi, formerly GiGi, used to blog at Girl Gone Wild Biblestyle. But being the good girl she is, she figured some people may not get that she's not wild. (You're not?) She didn't want to be considered wild (no coal-throwing girl would be!) so she switched it over to 86753oh9 in honor of the Tommy Tutone song of our 80s past. And I play the song in my head. Much better, JenGi. For A Good Time, Call......When I hear that, I think thoughts of Monopoly with Jen/Gi. Laughter, sledding, linking arms and skipping along a trail. That's what I think of when I hear For A Good Time Call. And Jen/Gi I've got your number.

*There's a part two of this award, a tag meme. But I figure because I took so long spreading smiles and toasting my friends, I'll come back to it tomorrow or Friday. Thanks, Shana, again. I think you're one amazing woman. If I'd known you when I myself was a young mom, I'm thinking my kids might have had more fun--more days with paints and more days with play-doh, more days riding bikes up and down the sidewalk. You'll never be sorry you went to the trouble. This I am certain of. xo
**Updated on John...thanks so very much for your prayers, they are working. I saw him last night along with Cody. He was still hurting but much better. Good enough to try to make me jealous of another guy who comes to visit him, Bob. He loves to tell me when Bob was there. So apparently Bob showed up yesterday and John said "I gave Bob a hug" and he looks up at me with what Cody so accurately described as his "smiling face" and waited for me to feign jealousy. And of course I didn't let him down. He loves that game. I love that man. And I don't know why this is yellow, but you know, it works for me!

Jen/Gi, Your Dog Does Her Heyhoo In Your Purse? What's The Deal-io?

Jen/Gi, aka GiGi at Girl Gone Wild turned For A Good Time Call, has a friend, Ms. Wrong Can't Be Right. She (Ms. CBW) emailed this song to me today and I spit my Tab all over the keyboard singing it. (Waste of perfectly good Tab!) This is so so so the essence of our beloved Jen/Gi, so I have permission to rip this off--thank you Ms. Can't Be sounds like Aunt Bea!

PS--Jen/Gi, Cat and I are on our way down in a few weeks. I was gonna not worry with lipstick and borrey some of yours. Until I read stanza/verse/whatever Number Four. Uhhh.....nvm, I'll remember or I'll do the naked lips thing.
Okay, from this point down, it's Ms. Aunt Bea Can't Be, who may or may not have a career in songwriting.
Ode to Jen/Gi
Back in her wild-child days we knew her as Gigi. Technically, she'll always be a wild-child but in a good way -- not the way her old blog Girl Gone Wild would lead one to believe. In 2008, my dear friend (and yours, too) turned a page in her book of life and started a brand new blog. Jen's very own 867-5309.But what would we call her?

Jen/Gi. A good mix of the past and the present. So, in honor of a wonderful friend and her song inspired blog, I wrote "Ode to Jen/Gi."Shall we all sing it together? To the tune of 'Bingo':

There was a blogger, had a friend and JenGi is her name-o.
J-E-N-G-I
J-E-N-G-I
J-E-N-G-I
And JenGi is her name-o.

Okay, here's the deal is always said by JenGi is her name-o.
(Clap)-E-N-G-I
(Clap)-E-N-G-I
(Clap)-E-N-G-I
And JenGi is her name-o.

Foreign lands were once her home and JenGi is her name-o.
(Clap)-(Clap)-N-G-I
(Clap)-(Clap)-N-G-I
(Clap)-(Clap)-N-G-I
And JenGi is her name-o.

She has a dog who poos in her purse and JenGi is her name-o.
(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-G-I
(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-G-I
(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-G-I
And JenGi is her name-o.

Heyhoo is her favorite word and JenGi is her name-o.
(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-I
(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-I
(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-I
And JenGi is her name-o.

A crazy gal, loved by all and JenGi is her name-o.
(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)
(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)
(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)-(Clap)
And JenGi is her name-o.

Love ya JenGi!And a shout out to Stacey for encouraging me to post this (she could tell I really wanted to)!
