Reesie the Purrr-Fect Kitty

This is Reesie....he's a rescue kitty who has my friend, Jami's heart. She's such a sweet soul, and when I'm down and out, one of my favorite blogs is Fleming Family Circus. It's filled with positive Texas energy (and digi scrapping, helooo!). Jami is a professional chef at a foofy country club and still hang out with the likes of me! She sent Alex (my chef) an amazing versatile cake recipe they make at the club, and if you ask, I'm guessing she'd share with you too! So Jami, thank you from the bottom of my heart. God has blessed me abundantly with great friends both in blogland and in real life. I'm glad you are part of that.

And it is my turn to pass out the Your Friendship is Purr-fect Honor. I kinda hate this part, all my friends are equally amazing, but I'm supposed to pick one. So....I'm going to give this to my favorite Hawaiian flight attendant, Kailani. Because Kailani epitomizes a confident blogger and a friend. She comes around when she can (she's got like 5 million friends, so she can't come every day) and if I miss a few days, it's fine. She knows I'll be there and she knows I think the world of her. So Kailani, your friendship is Purr-fect, the cat's meow (had to say it!).

Aloha Friday

Fridays are Aloha Fridays at Kalani's. It's been awhile since I've done this and I don't know why, it's easy and often very interesting! She posts a question on her blog and we link up and post our own questions.

My question is:

If you had the chance to hang out with one or two of your closest blogfriends in your hometown, what would you do, where would you go?

Myself, Christmas lights aside, I think I'd take my friends to Neighbors (a local cafe here in Lee's Summit) and after dinner we'd pick up a bunch of homemade cinnamon rolls to go then head home. I'd just want to sit around the house and hang out...followed of course by Bridget Jones Diary (along with several bowls of popcorn, hot tamales, Reeces Miniatures and Red Vines).

An Organized Giveaway!

Okay I think I've got my blogging issues under control. It's not perfect, but I kind of like the new colors. At least until I don't like them anymore! I'm thinking of Spring already. I never thought I'd enjoy learning to tweak a blog template. Several of you emailed me asking me about the photo. I'm guessing it was taken in the Spring just because Jamee is wearing short sleeves.

I'm the big giant head of hair sitting on my daddy's lap, Jamee appears to have found the scissors in the desk behind us. That or our mother might have been trimming bangs while watching The Newlywed Game. Something outrageous was said...and, well, you see the result! She's probably going to thump me when I get to heaven for this photo, but it's worth it. I think her little face is adorable here.

I was just over at Kailani's place. She's doing a giveaway and I'm soo all about giveaways. She's giving away an 'upscale' agenda from momAgenda. All you have to do is comment her, tell her which one you like (head over to momAgenda first). And you can link to her on your blog if you have one.

I did this right away, I'm in love with the Fuchsia planner. Just looking at this I can see my days sailing by smoothly. , 'Oh, you need me to bake a pie for the banquet? Let me just write it in my planner....What's that? Dental appointment..why of course I remember, they're in my fuchsia planner....You want to have lunch? Well, simply because my life is in my new super funky-fuchsia planner, I just so happen to have extra time these days. I'm so organized that I feel I have extra time. Wanna borrow some of mine?'

Okay, maybe it won't go quite like that, but just look at this planner! If I don't win one, I'm quite tempted to buy one. If I remember to. I might not remember. Because it's not as fun remembering in my borrrring planner. If I had this one, I'd remember stuff.

  • This week's MiracleWord readings were good--but I never cease to be amazed at how bad these New Testament characters can be. Some of the things they do makes me blush--that takes a lot of bad! I picture the moment Abraham unties Isaac from the alter and I'd love to have heard what he said to his father. I'm unclear on whether he understood or not--it could have gone either way. Maybe it's clear later on, I don't remember to be honest!

  • It's never too late to jump in, promise. And join in on the forums. I'd love hearing what my friends think about Scripture. And I'll be glad to mail a book to anyone who needs one. It's that good!

Aloha Friday Holiday Prank Edition

I know, I know, only 40 minutes left until it's not Friday anymore. Over at Kailani's (An Island Life), she's doing a fun little Friday meme. I ask you a question, you answer. Then you can link up to her and ask your own darn question!

So I'm reading my BFF GiGi's blog tonight, and not gonna mince words here--she's capable of eating some disgusting 'food' or whatever. Like Spam fries, black-eyed peas with raw onion, and I think there were some live animals in there, not sure. And that got me to thinking about GiGi--and how she wants to prank some folks while she's up, throw some hot coals at their house. I think that's a fine idea. We might. (PS Gi, you DID see where I won the prize over at Kailani's, no? I KNOW! I couldn't believe it either...that almost always....I mean nevah happens!)

That girl got me to thinking about pranks, silliness, all the things we did in high school. Small town high school is probably better known for pranks, there isn't much else left to do on a Saturday night (Friday nights being typical football or basketball nights).

At Christmas time, we drove through town lifting holiday decorations, you know, wreathes, little decorative trees, those plastic candy canes, a flamingo or two, and of course always a Frosty and a Rudolph. Giggling beyond control, we'd sneak upon the target, snatch and run like heck through the snow (back when snow was snow and it was up to our knees) until we got to the getaway. One of us would be waiting, the trunk up. We tossed our score into the trunk, pile into the car (literally--back then seat belts weren't the 'thing' either) and took off, tire chains clanking along to the music! (Do you just see how innocent I can look over there? Because I am capbale of the look.)

At the end of the night-- say around 11:30, we knew we needed to get rid of 'evidence', so we simply unloaded the pile onto the side of a street and drove back home. Laughing all the way.....

Given, it might have been mean and stuff. But I contend a little movie theater or a stinking Mickey D's and we would've been better behaved. Fatter, but still...nicer.
I've got a million and one stories just like this (some of them started with a bottle of Tickle Me Pink...if you're an 80s child, you know about Tickle Me Pink). What was your favorite childhood/teenager-hood prank?
PS--Did any of y'all check that You Tube Video of Cliff Richard? Because I don't think you did. Because you'd be all 'oh my goooooondess he's beautiful!'. And I didn't get even one of those! Losers.
